Marvin Hagler Wins Top Class; New Meet-High Established
Marvin Hagler would bring his ‘A’ game to grind down the competition in Tuesday’s top class $11,000 Preferred Trot. Starting from the outside gate the five-year-old gelded son of Crazed would move from last - challenging into the final turn and then hold on to win by a neck over a fast-closing Bucktober. Staying for third was pacesetter Andy Over, while O Narutac Perfetto completed the reduced field of four. Time of the mile was 1:58.1, with Brett MacDonald driving, for owners Mary Pedden and Mark MacQuarrie.
Garrett Rooney would drive a pair of winners, on the night, scoring with Getting Euchred in 1:57 and Brydown Better Bea in 1:59.1. Daryl Thiessen also clicked for the driving-double aboard Fern Hill Bella (40th career win) in 1:58.1 and Jackie Davis in 1:59.3
The Raceway established a new Meet-high for handle, Tuesday, with $717,818 wagered on the 10-race program.
“Despite some short fields - due to scratches - great weather and a favorable schedule helped us reach that new high,” mentioned Director of Equine Programming Greg Blanchard. “We’ll look forward to another solid 10-race card on Wednesday evening beginning at 5:50 p.m.!”
